Laws and regulations
Industrial and Commercial Property is governed in Morocco by Law 17/97, which is in force since December 18, 2004. This law, which is in compliance with the WTO agreements (in particular the TRYPS agreements) (links to glossary), has brought Morocco in line with international standards in terms of commercial law relating to industrial property.
More recently, this Law 17/97 was supplemented and amended in order to be in compliance with the world reforms in the field of industrial property, and with the free trade agreements signed by Morocco. This law introduces new provisions such as the system of opposition to trademarks, measures to be taken at the borders for suspected counterfeited goods, and the National Register of Geographical Indications and Denominations of Origin.

Other laws or dahirs ("Royal decrees") may also intervene in the field of industrial property, like Law 2/00 on Copyright and Neighboring Rights (link to law 2/00), and Law 9/94 on Plant Breeding (link to law 9/94).
Morocco adapts its legislation on industrial property to globalization of trade.
